Catching Up…

So what’s been going on while I was away? Just a couple of interesting tidbits I feel the need to comment on.

First, Dick Cheney want on Sunday TV to talk about how Obama was leading this nation towards socialism and making us vulnerable to another terrorist attack. Is that really a road you want to go down, Dick? Do you mean as opposed to the road to fascism that we were on for eight years? That wonderful economy that you and Dubya helped create through rampant de-regulation and cronyism? Do you mean the security of the same country that saw its worst attack on American soil during your watch? And from the same people who lied in order to launch an illegal invasion of Iraq and thus bringing the very terrorists to Iraq that they claimed to be defeating? Dick, I think its time for you to just shut the frak up. You have less than zero credibility, which wasn’t lost on White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs.

Gibbs got his hand slapped later, but this was worth the laughter in the room. What a breath of fresh air.

Next, we go back to the feud between Jon Stewart and Jim Cramer of CNBC. Cramer showed up on The Daily Show and was promptly handed his head by Stewart. To Cramer’s credit, he took it like a man, but he has to be stunned by the footage that Stewart pulled out, showing Cramer’s own personal financial character. Only eight minutes of the interview aired on Comedy Central, but they posted the rest on their web site - it is worth watching.

The interview can be seen here.

Interesting how both Cramer and CNBC have avoided any mention of the interview since it was conducted. What people are starting to realize (in my opinion and with Stewart’s help) is that CNBC has traded access for its journalistic integrity, and has become the lap dog of Wall Street. It is high time for people to begin to understand that Wall Street’s interests and Main Street’s interests do not have a lot in common. Frankly, I think the bottoming of the stock market is less a sign of the economy’s health and more of a sign that Wall Street is beginning to recognize that the gravy days of risking it all with your and my money are coming to a crashing halt. And it is time that the Fourth Estate got off its ass and engaged in real investigative journalism. It is staggering to think how much of this meltdown might have been avoided if reporters had bothered to ask tough questions and not be placated by lies, but instead went out and did their homework.

Finally, on to important stuff… the Patriots have continued to fine tune their roster, and the roster additions are included below. In addition to what is listed, there is a lot of innuendo suggesting that the Patriots are close to striking a deal with the Carolina Panthers that would bring Julius Peppers to the Pats. If that happens, the Patriots will have to be the odds-on favorite to win the Super Bowl.

Roster Additions and Re-signings:

WR - Joey Galloway
C - Al Johnson
T - Wesley Britt
DT - Mike Wright
CB - Leigh Bodden
S - Ray Ventrone
S - Tank Williams

I am updating the main roster as well, and will try to keep it up to date going into the draft.
